Here is my first entry for the Capture Me summer challenge. I wrote this yesterday, and I think it really captures where my head is at. Feedback welcome.

If My Body Were

If my body were a temple

you would praise the beauty

of its curves, like a great

exotic mosque, golden dome

elevated above the mundane -

the vault of heaven in its glory

If my body were a painting

you would admire the elegant

rondure of the form, celebrate

the softness of the aesthetic,

recognize the artistry in each

generous sweep of the brush

If my body were the land

you would love the gently

rolling hills, the delicate slopes

leading to lush, damp valleys

In this abundant earth you

would want to make your home

I love it! I think it's sensual without really being overly sexual, y'know? I love the imagery you used and this stanza:
exotic mosque, golden dome
elevated above the mundane -
the vault of heaven in its glory
It's absolutely brilliant!

Thank you so much! I questioned how that was going to come off, really, because I don't think I could have conveyed what I was going for without addressing the sensuality naturally associated with the human body, but I didn't want it to come across as sexual. It's reassuring that you think I pulled it off.

the vault of heaven in its glory was actually inspired by something I read in Wikipedia. *grin* I did my mosque research.

Thanks again for the feedback!

To answer to the theme of sexuality: That wasn't my first impression at all.
Sexuality of course comes with the territory, but I got more the overall feeling of 'when it comes to art, there is no ugly.'
And it is the same with the body; if not disfigured beyond recognition, then there is beauty in every form.

You know, only that you paint it in beautiful pictures. :)
I agree with groovekittie - there is brilliancy.

This is so lovely, and I appreciate so much that this is where your head is at! Shape is nothing to scoff at, and I love the richness of the imagery, the use of the natural world, of priceless, timeless works of art and beauty... This is absolutely breathtaking.
